Brentford skipper Kevin O'Connor intends to sign a new deal at Griffin Park and has encouraged some of his team-mates to do the same.
The 27-year-old midfielder is one of five players offered new terms by the League Two champions along with Alan Bennett, Mark Phillips, David Hunt and Simon Brown.
"It was such a relief to see the list of released players and see my name wasn't on it," he told the Ealing Gazette. "Although naturally I feel for the players who were.
"I definitely want to stay, and it's as good as agreed. We just need to sort out the paperwork but there's no hurry.
"I hope the others offered new deals stay too as when you have just had a season like we have, you want to keep as many of the squad together as possible and maintain some consistency."
