Clydesdale Bank Premier League new boys St Johnstone have completed the signings of Livingston duo Dave MacKay and Murray Davidson.

Defender MacKay has penned a two-year deal with the Irn-Bru First Division champions, with midfielder Davidson signing for three years, both for undisclosed fees.

Assistant manager Tony Docherty told the club's official website, www.perthstjohnstonefc.co.uk: "Derek (McInnes) and I have always been admirers of these two players and when they became available they were obvious targets."

Meanwhile, Saints have been further boosted with the news Graham Gartland has signed for next season.

The Irish defender joined the club from Drogheda United on January 1 and has been persuaded to stay for the SPL campaign.

Gartland said: "I wanted to see if I settled in Scotland okay as I didn't enjoy my previous spell but I have really enjoyed my time with Saints and am delighted to be staying."

Saints captain Kevin Rutkiewicz has signed a one-year extension to his contract, while on his way from McDiarmid Park is striker Derek Holmes, who has accepted a two-year deal with Queen of the South.
