Andy Walker is convinced no man means more to the Celtic faithful than his former team-mate Tommy Burns, who died a year ago on Friday.
Walker will don the green-and-white hoops again at Celtic Park on May 31 in a tribute match for Burns, who died aged 51 following a battle with skin cancer.
"I think there are some fantastic Celtic names but given Tommy's birthplace and his contribution to Celtic from such a young age, and the amount of time he spent here, nobody else generates such emotion among the fans." said Walker.
"And he was winner, he won so many things. He was involved in so many different generations of success, when he came through with (Kenny) Dalglish and (Danny) McGrain in the early 70s. And when I was coming along to support Celtic, I thought the team that played round about '83 was a really good side.
"I was lucky enough to be part of a winning team when Tommy played in the centenary season. Just great memories and it's amazing to think he died at such a young age."
Walker was proud to become a friend and team-mate of a player he had previously admired from the terraces, and an opponent he had held in such high esteem.
"I was in a Motherwell team at Hampden and we drew with Celtic 1-1 in the Scottish Cup semi-final, Tommy scored that day," Walker said. "Celtic gave us a bit of a doing in the replay, they won 3-0, and there was obvious disappointment in our dressing room.
"The door opened and Tommy put his head round and congratulated us on our performance. We were a First Division side. Touches of class like that you remember and when you hook up with him as a team-mate, he becomes a friend. Our wives still speak to each other.
"It's just so sad that he's not here, but he made a lasting impression on one club and it's not often you can say that. I don't think any former player is held in a higher regard than Tommy."
