Stockport look set to sign striker Kevin Ellison after Chester owner Stephen Vaughan confirmed they "will not stand in his way".The 29-year-old was City's top scorer last season with 11 goals and also attracted interest from Wrexham and Darlington.
The Hatters' latest offer is believed to be in the region of £35,000 but is well below what Chester paid Tranmere for the left-winger in the summer of 2007.
Chester owner Stephen Vaughan told the Chester Chronicle: "We've had an offer from Stockport County for Kevin Ellison and, as we've said on previous occasions, we never stand in a player's way if they can move to a club in a higher division."
