Villa Eyes Liverpool Move

Sun 15 Jun, 01:09 PM

Spanish star David Villa has hinted he would like to move to Liverpool, if he heads to England this summer.

The Valencia striker has lit up Euro 2008 with four goals in their opening two group games.

A host of clubs are tracking Villa with Liverpool and Chelsea reported to be heading the queue for the diminutive front-man.

Villa, who has linked up so well with current Reds star Fernando Torres for Spain, admits he would be tempted by the prospect of playing with him on a weekly basis.

"Liverpool and Chelsea are both big clubs with a lot of attraction," he told the News of the World.

Villa also admitted that Liverpool's Spanish coach Rafa Benitez could play a big role in attracting him as he tried to sign him earlier in his career.

"Liverpool have a Spanish coach and I also have a lot of friends there," he said.

"When Rafa was coach at Valencia and I was at Zaragoza there was contact about me joining Valencia but I couldn't arrive until the year after he left there."

OF COURSE WE HAVE A WORLD CLASS PLAYER IN LIVERPOOL BUT IT JUST NOT ENOUGH. WE HAVE SOLID BACK FOUR AND GOOD GOAL KEEPER, WE NEED AT LEAST 1 GOOD LEFT DEFENDER, 2 WORLD CLASS WINGER LEFT AND RIGHT, PLUS 1 WORLD CLASS STRIKER.

  6. Definately go for villa, bently and barry, come on you yanks, show us how much you want liverpool to get back to the glory days, as you quoted when you bought liverpool! There is no way we can compete for the league unless we strengthen our squad, and that means bringing in world class players, not just fringe players like we have in the past! Yeah its great to buy players for around 10 mill, but will that make a difference? No not anymore its 2008, everyone knows that you need to be spending big bucks for players now, look at united, as much as i hate to say it but over the last few years they have been buying two or three quality signings every summer!
BRING BACK THAT PREMIERSHIP TROPHEY, AND LETS SHOW EVERYONE THAT WE HAVE THE QUALITY!!!

  13. we really NEED VILLA in order to win the title next season...this season with torres alone we already closing the gaps with the leader...and next season, with villa and torres,we not need to close the gaps but the rest will need to do so...

LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB RAWKS....GO RAFA GO FOR IT...GET VILLA....THE TALENT WE NEED IN LFC...SAY NO TO 20 MILLION BARRY...LET ASTON VILLA HAVE HIM...INSTEAD OF BARRY,WE COULD SIGN BENTLEY WHO IS YOUNG AND ALSO TALENTED...BUT SET DAVID VILLA AS OUR HIGHEST PRIORITY....

From Denis S, on Mon 16 Jun 1:30AM
  14. great....villa and el nino will be the best pairing....and right now i think lfc really need a partner for el nino...lfc can`t put the burden on torres alone...and i think villa will be a great partner for torres...even world class defenders like fabio cannavro, rio ferninand, carvalho, ashley cole, william gallas will have a hard time to stop this pair..i`m sure of this...see how they both perform in euro 08...they both really a good pair...20 million for barry not worth it at all...barry is good...but his price 20 million is too much....and i think bentley will also good pair with gerrard....go rafa sell crouch,riise,alonso,voronin....and buy villa...it is really worth it....

From Denis S, on Mon 16 Jun 1:24AM
  15. never buy a player out of a major tounament the price is always exzaggerated

  18. Villa and Torres... the best pairing i'll ever see in the premiership. even the best defenders will find them tough to handle.

The rate at which these two are going to bang in goals for LIVERPOOL next season is really gonna be alarming, they are both gonna lit up the premiership! Am only sorry for defenders cause they are in for a big job.

Rafa, villa is a good buy anytime...he's not only gonna do liverpool a good but also spain will benefit for both pairing up in the attack for a club.
Make a move also for Barry and liverpool will be the team to beat next season.

  19. You all correct Rafa should go for Villa and forget about Barry, he gonna cost 20 mill an he nowhere worth that. if Torres gets injured next season who is gonna get the goals???.."Barry" i think not, O'Neals havin Rafas pants down askin stupid money. What you think??,do you agree

    From quinn.patrick@..., on Sun 15 Jun 7:48PM
  20. Villa upfront with Torres will be a deadly striking partnership any premiership side will be having, infact , premiership defenders are in for a tough one and i hope that the deal comes to pass.
As this will not only benefit LIVERPOOL but it will also be good for spain...

Rafa here is a big chance to have a fantastic strike force of el-nino with villa, Barry's signing also will really be a big one for liverpool this season.
