Federer, who was heavily defeated by Rafael Nadal in the French Open final last weekend, was rarely troubled by his German opponent.
The victory extends his winning streak on grass to 59 matches ahead of Wimbledon which starts on June 23.
"I played great tennis all week," said Federer. "I didn't lose my serve once, which I don't think I've ever managed before in a tournament.
"It's very special for me; I'm really pleased about it."
Federer has traditionally used the Halle tournament as a warm-up for Wimbledon, but skipped the event a year ago after losing to Nadal at Roland Garros.
The Swiss, who also failed to drop a set all week, said he was fit and ready for the third Grand Slam tournament of the year where he aims to break the record he shares with Bjorn Borg of five consecutive wins.
"It's obviously a good omen to win here in Wimbledon, sorry, Halle - the Wimbledon of Germany," he added, laughing.

I think the media is being unfair for Roger,
When he wins on clay but loses sets to players of the quality of Monfils and Montanes, and Nadal wins easily it is all about Nadal’s dominance and Federer’s struggle, But on grass Federer wins a tournament without even dropping serve once while Nadal narrowly escapes a Japanese teenager and beats Karlovic 76 in the third actually winning less points than his opponent , and when he escapes set points in both sets vs Djokovic, all we read is about how Nadal has excelled into his first ever grass court title with a little emphasis on the remarkable feat of Federer in Halle, Nothing he does these days seems to earn him some credit. Let’s not forget that while this is Nadal’s first Grass title, Federer had won numerous clay court titles including 4 masterseries beating Nadal in the process
More over, Bad results by Nadal and Djokovic seem to get very rapidly forgotten, no body mentions how Nadal lost easliy to Federer in the last two master cups or a 6-0 set on clay last season, but they keep mentioning that Nadal pushed him to 5 sets on grass though. Every article about Federer or Nadal these days has to have a line mentioning his french final loss!!
No body remembers Nadal's humiliating defeat this season to Youzhny 6-0, 6-1 or two times to Nalbandian where he managed to get 7 games in 2 matches. Let alone losing badly to a then non-ranked Tsonga who went to lose the next match to Djokovic easily.
No body made a huge deal about Djokovic's form in Shanghai or when he lost this year to a Qualifiers in Miami, No attention was made to Federer/Djokovic match in Monte Carlo where Djokovic could not even bother Roger a bit and ended up leaving the court with a sore throat, but all we hear is how Djokovic is looming to down the world number 1 etc.
When we talk on winning streaks , winning 81 matches on clay over two years by Nadal is remarkable but staying in form to be unbeaten on a surface for 6 years is impossible even if the matches won are less in number, the key here is how long you can keep that form and I think 6 years is very difficult to beat, even the great Sampras lost on grass while he was dominating wimbledon.
When we physically compare Federer to the 6-years younger Djokovic, one must admit that Federer seems better in all aspects let alone his mental superiority.
And although Federer sturggled this year because of his illness that kept Ancic out for nearly a year, yet I think he faired better this year on clay than he did last year and he deserves a lot of credit for what he accomplished during his convalescence from mononucleosis.
I also give him credit for the sportsmanship he shows on court when he is loosing, I saw him surprisingly beaten by Fish and getting demolished by Nadal in the french but I did not see ugly tactics of stopping play and getting medical time outs which became a pettern for Nadal who did it vs Djokovic in Indianwells trying to stop him from serving out the first set but he was denied by the umpire, he did it vs Federer in Hamburg and showed no signs of any stuggle before or after this time out, and even when he got broken in the 2nd set vs Djokovic in Queens he did it again for finger blisters!!
May be this unfairness is a natural price to pay for someone who's been dominant like no predecessor in history, or may be people always cheer for the under dog but it is just not fair and it will eventually get to Federer's confidence if not already.
It is too early to rule Federer out just for making a bad half season that other top ten players may still consider great. He is getting it together on both the mental and the physical aspects and even if he does not win Wimbledon he still has a good chance to stay at the top of the sport for a little longer.
Well, Nadal had a lot of difficulties against Nishikori and Karlovic, and he really didn't win 6:0 6:0 against Djokovic. I also respect any win, but also Federer's. He was playing against Baghdatis who is not nobody and Kiefer can be very dangerous. So, even if people love Nadal, one shouldn't talk about that too much. Federer is still there. He in fact had some difficulties this year DUE TO THE DESEASE and still was in SF in AO. And also in the Final of RG, I mean he didn't have all Byes on the way to the Final, he was winning all the matches. So, let's be fair. Borg as great as he is, predicted that Roger would win RG and he didn't. Now Borg is predicting that Nadal would win Wimbledon and we all are excited "HURRA", but he didn't win it yet!
Konečne sa mu podarilo vyhrať niečo poriadne tento rok, aj ked je jasne , že Wimbledon si nenchá ujsť, a podľa mna vo finále porazí Novaka Djokovica
Are you guys crazy? Nadal's getting stronger, Federer's getting weaker. The evidence is in the scores of last year's Wimbledon and this years RG finals. We all love Federer but lets face facts - he's not what he used to be. Rafa, on the other hand, is becoming like Serena Williams when she was at her peak - so strong (physically and mentally) and dominant - unbeatable. I predict he'll win MOST of the Grand Slams now - and Fed WILL also win a few more to beat the record.
we all know that Nadal got through to the Queen's final due to sheer luck in the Karlovic match. He struggled all week where as the grass king flew through leaving the dust behind him. GO GO ROGER
@spanishcards, Who did think that "Federer had a change to RG"? Borg? Wilander? Even blind people could see that Nadal was playing on completely different level than Federer. It was not any shock or surprise that Federer was thrashed. But on grass it's different story. Nadal's style on grass is a joke, his victories on grass are the results of his confidence and mental advantage over other players, including Federer. Over last two years, Nadal was too lucky to get to the final of Wimbledon... this year it might be different draw and he will lose to somebody like Mahut on the way of losing his number 2 position to Djokovic.
Nadal talks a lot. Federer wins a lot. Stats are there to talk!
federer je najbolji,nadal je truba
Of course Roger has been the best for years! Nadal plays terrific right now, returning everything like a wall with wicked curves and so much power and lift. But he is rather off-putting to me! And why is Rafa always pulling his knickers out of his but t?! :)
what is all the noise about? this is not the first time that Nadal has beaten the master Roger in a RG,the fact is for how long has the Master been on top? how many wimbledon final has Nadal play? you guys only make the noise because even Nadal always give respect to whom it is due, i hope you all remember that there is AO which Nadal could not played to the final because he was beaten by a number 10000 rank player then, what if he dont even get to the final.
Congrats Roger! You are simply the best....55 titles with 12 GS in 10 years is unbelievable and unbeatable. Even a blind will not compare ur game with Nadal´s because the difference is clear. We need players who construct and win points like you and Nole (that´s what makes the game interesting/exciting) instead of those who wait for free points from their opponent`s unforced errors. Good luck in Wimbledon.
your number one fan in sweden
Fed's aura in the locker room & on the court has been severely diluted this year. He was humiliated in Paris & his days at the top of the tree are numbered.
Rafa & Novak are on his case, even more so this year. If he slips up (as most folks expect him to) at Wimbledon, Pete's record will be safe.
He's spooked & an embarrassingly weak field in Halle is no reason to start getting bullish about riding rough shod over everyone in London next week.
ciberlimbo (7.57pm).......
I don't mind you using my quote/post from the 'Rafa' thread, but next time maybe use a little common courtesy & acknowledge the ORIGINAL poster?....
Some people just cant look further than their noses. Federe has played Hally 5 times and won he has also played wimbledon the last 5 times and won.He has played RG and reached the finals-FOR THE THIRD TIME in a row.. So dear people what has changed this year, that has not happened before? well know he will win wimbledon.Like RF himself once said; " Some people talk to much, too fast!"
We all know who at the end of the year will still be number one!and we nolonger talk about records here!
Congrats Rogie... I hope you will lift the Wimbie trophy again.. show them that your still the best of the bests... Good luck!!!
wave bye bye to your title Federer, Nadal is in town & he's packing extra muscle!!!
I guess winning a 3rd rate tournament against sub par opponents in the backwater of Germany offered you a much needed confidence boost. The REAL opponents were at Queens Club - you best get your protection armour out of the closet, you're gonna need it buster!
federer won fair and square he deserved his win. come on give credit where due
i bet if nadal and joko were put down all the time they wouldnt be doing well either
fed will win wimbel
go fed
I hope Federer is satisfied after winning a tourney full of nobodies cos he was too afraid to come and face any of these two great players. Especially the one whose name starts with "R" and ends with "afa Nadal".
This rivalry is gonna be so legendary.
Feds time is over the last wimbledon he was very lucky but this year if the final will be against Nadal there won,t be a 6th title!! Every body thought he had a change to RG but hes been faded away.
federer it's not just the best , he is greatest of all time
he is the record man , he is the fantasy player he is the legend
go roger and destroy them all....
