Ryan expecting ticket boost

Mon 15 Jun, 02:04 PM

Doncaster chairman John Ryan expects season-ticket sales to top 8,000 with five local derbies to look forward to during the 2009/10 campaign.

Rovers survived their first season back in the second tier for 50 years by turning their season round after Christmas and Ryan believes fans have even more to look forward to come August.

Ryan told the Sheffield Star: "We've sold just over 6,000 season tickets, but I hope that we can get it back up to 8,000 by the end of the summer.

"It has always given season-ticket sales a boost in the past when the fixtures come out and I see no reason why it shouldn't be the same this time around.

"With Scunthorpe being promoted from League One and Sheffield United losing in the play-of final, we've got five local derbies next season.

"We've also got the likes of Newcastle, Middlesbrough and West Bromwich Albion visiting the Keepmoat Stadium next season, so there's a lot to look forward to."
