Reading director of football Nicky Hammond has said Steve Coppell is not in the hunt for any additions to his squad ahead of the new season.Coppell has so far neglected to add to his troops following relegation
from the Premier League in May and Hammond believes that he will only be forced into action if he sells first.
"We are well aware of Steve's thoughts on the squad. At the moment he's happy with the squad although he has made it clear he would like to reduce it a little," he told the club's official website.
"The important thing is keeping him fully aware of what's going on and any moves that might be about to take place in the Championship.
"Then Steve can take a view as to whether he wants to be involved in that deal and get into a discussion.
"We've put a number of players in front of Steve at this point but he has decided not to progress with them at this stage."

Ahh.... the magic word 'Commitment' - something unfortunately a word most the team had never heard of in the latter half of last season!
I don't blame Coppell for waiting for a while, the team that he has has served him well. I know that they have just been relegated, but for a couple of more goals they would have made it for another year in the Premiership. The thing is to try to bounce right back and try again, they have made it once up into the premiership, and with a bit of luck and good commitment from the players they could do it again. Good Luck Reading, I wish you well during the 2008/2009 season. From an exhiled Reading fan. Bobbie O'Toole
