Long-term injury victim Ryan Green is expected to return to action during Bristol Rovers' tour of Sweden next week.A troublesome Achilles injury limited the defender to just 14 first-team appearances last season, the last of which came in a 1-0 defeat at Swindon on November 24.

Green, 27, recently returned from three weeks rehabilitation at Lilleshall and has resumed light training.

"Ryan is very close to a return. He has joined in some bits of technique and is doing some functional running with (physio) Phil Kite," first-team coach Paul Trollope told the club's official website.

"We are going to increase that this week and, by the end of the week, we will possibly get him involved in bits and pieces of opposed practice.

"Ryan will travel to Sweden with us and hopefully, all being well, we will see him in action in the second or third game of the tour."
