Harte keen on earning Wolves deal

Tue 15 Jul, 03:15 PM

Ian Harte is determined to seal a permanent deal at Wolves after starting a two-week trial with the Championship club on Monday. The Republic of Ireland left-back, 30, is a free agent after being released by Sunderland at the end of last season, and he is desperate to impress former international manager Mick McCarthy and land a contract offer.

"Obviously I know Mick from the international scene," Harte told the club's official website. "He gave me around 50 of my caps and that was a time when I was playing more for my country than my club at Leeds.

"I respect him highly and he knows how to get the best out of me. I'm here for two weeks so hopefully I can impress and then we'll see what happens.

"Hopefully, I can be one of the players that helps push this club forward if I do get the chance."

Meanwhile, McCarthy insists any potential decision on Harte's future will not affect the ongoing talks with Michael Gray or the future of fellow left-sided player Daniel Jones.
