Ince keen to stave of Brad admirers

Tue 15 Jul, 12:15 PM

Blackburn boss Paul Ince has poured cold water on suggestions keeper Brad Friedel is on his way to Premier League rivals Aston Villa. The 37-year-old has become a target for Martin O'Neill but Ince is desperate to keep the Ohio-born stopper, while he has also denied any interest in Spurs keeper Paul Robinson.

"When I first came to Blackburn I said I wanted to keep my best players, and that hasn't changed," Ince told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.

"Brad is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.

"As far as I'm concerned I want to keep Brad, and if that's the case then why would there be any interest in Paul Robinson?

"But what I do understand is in the Premier League you always get linked with players, and players will be coming and going.

"There's speculation and it isn't going to go away, but I want to keep my best players and move forward this season, and that hasn't changed."
