Kapo fits for Latics gaffer Bruce

Tue 15 Jul, 05:15 PM

Wigan have signed Olivier Kapo for £3.5million from Birmingham, with the midfielder penning a three-year contract at the JJB Stadium. The classy 27-year-old will be reunited with Latics boss Steve Bruce, who was in charge of Birmingham when Kapo moved to St Andrews last summer from Juventus.

The French midfielder scored five times in 26 Premier League appearances, but was unable to prevent Blues from relegation to the Championship.

He had been expected to leave the club and Bruce's successor Alex McLeish said he would not stand in Kapo's way, if the club received the right offer.

The deal gives Birmingham a minor profit on Kapo, who becomes Wigan's second signing of the summer after former Blues team-mate Daniel De Ridder joined on a free transfer.
