Kennedy keen for Bhoys to sort loan

Tue 15 Jul, 06:15 PM

Celtic defender John Kennedy is training with Motherwell in Austria - and hopes his club can quickly agree a loan deal with Mark McGhee's men.The 24-year-old is training with Well while the clubs discuss a temporary transfer.

Kennedy has also attracted interest from other clubs but the Scotland cap is keen to move to Fir Park.

"I think they are still trying to sort things back home at the moment," he said.

"I am just over here training, making the most of this week and hopefully things can get sorted quickly.

"The possible move came to my attention via Gordon Strachan and my agent who told me about Motherwell's interest.

"I was all for it, it's a good opportunity for me so hopefully it will get sorted out but we just need to wait and see what happens."

Kennedy believes the move would help him progress after his latest knee injury.

The centre-back, who was out for three years after suffering a career-threatening injury on his Scotland debut in 2004, broke down during a Champions League clash against Shakhtar Donetsk last November.

"Obviously coming here I will have a bit more of a chance to get regular games than with Celtic and that will hopefully get me back on my feet and at the same time, give Motherwell something back as well," he told Motherwell's official website. "Playing in Europe was a factor too and a big advantage to everyone at the club.

"I am totally fit now and I have been working hard, pushing myself this week and over the summer.

"I also had a hard week at Celtic before coming here so I am feeling good and just want to get in about the games this week to try and get some match-fitness and sharpness back."
