Queudrue leaves St Andrews on free

Sunderland, Newcastle and Fulham are reportedly interested in Franck Queudrue after Birmingham gave the full-back a free transfer.Queudrue, 29, was left out of Blues' pre-season tour of Austria and did not take part in training when the squad returned last week.

The French full-back had a public falling out with the club towards the end of last season after co-owner David Sullivan criticised him in the media.

Now after talks between the two parties, Birmingham have confirmed that Queudrue is leaving the club on a free transfer.

The former Middlesbrough and Lens left-back moved to St Andrews 12 months after he arrived from Fulham in a deal worth more than £2million.

Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson could make a move as he is seeking competition for Paul Konchesky, having also been linked with West Brom left-back Paul Robinson.

Black Cats chief Roy Keane needs to strengthen his left-back options after releasing Ian Harte, and Kevin Keegan could make a move for Queudrue as he is actively trying to bolster his defence having taken Metz's Sebastien Bassong on trial at St James' Park.
