Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp is confident that Kanu will put pen to paper on a new contract to keep him at Fratton Park for another season.Kanu has yet to accept a one-year extension, which was automatically offered due to his appearances last season, and there has been suggestions that he was unhappy with the offer as he felt he deserved a two-year deal.
However, the 31-year-old has since stated there are "no problems" with the offer and he is expected to sign upon his return to the club.
And Redknapp has assured Kanu he will still have a valuable role to play next season despite the arrivals of Peter Crouch and Ben Sahar.
Redknapp told The News: "Peter (Storrie) is sorting it out. As far as I know he's going to sign for another year and I want to keep him here.
"He's a good player, he's still got a part to play and gives you something different.
"We want a squad and up front there's David Nugent as well, he's been working hard in pre-season."
