Peter Ridsdale has urged disgruntled Cardiff fans to keep the faith after losing Robbie Fowler and missing out on Marcus Bent.Fowler last week rejected a one-year deal at Ninian Park in order to join up with Paul Ince at Premier League side Blackburn, while Bent, after reportedly agreeing terms with the club, performed an 11th-hour U-turn on Monday and is now on the verge of a move to Birmingham.
"The last few days have been the ultimate rollercoaster in emotional messages from Cardiff City fans to my personal email address," Ridsdale told the club's official website.
"I totally understand the frustration that all Cardiff City fans feel. Frankly, the work that had gone in to try and make these signings reinforces my understanding.
"Rather than bombard me with your frustration, please just understand that we will acquire the missing links to give us the chance to compete this year.
"We have made tremendous progress and we will not let the odd hiccup disrupt our plans. As always, thank you for your support and understanding."
