Harry Expects Kanu To Sign

Tue 15 Jul, 01:09 PM

Harry Redknapp remains confident experienced striker Kanu will sign a new contract at Portsmouth.

Kanu has yet to accept a one-year extension at Fratton Park, which was automatically offered due to his appearances last season.

However, there were suggestions that the Nigerian was unhappy with the deal when he was quoted in his homeland as saying he deserved a two-year term.

The 31-year-old has since stated there are "no problems" with the offer and he is expected to sign upon his return to the club.

Pompey boss Redknapp has also assured Kanu he will still have a valuable role to play next season despite the arrivals of Peter Crouch and Ben Sahar.

Redknapp told The News: "Peter (Storrie) is sorting it out. As far as I know he's going to sign for another year and I want to keep him here.

"He's a good player, he's still got a part to play and gives you something different.

"We want a squad and up front there's David Nugent as well, he's been working hard in pre-season."
