The left-back, who can also play in midfield, has penned a three-year contract with the option of a further year and becomes the Baggies' sixth new recruit of the summer.

Having passed a medical at the Hawthorns, Cech has now linked up with the rest of Tony Mowbray's squad on their pre-season tour of Holland and Germany.

Cech joined Porto from Sparta Prague in 2005, going on to win three consecutive league titles with the Portuguese club.

The 25-year-old follows in the footsteps fellow Slovak full-back Igor Balis, who scored four goals in 63 games for the Baggies between 2000 and 2003.

Luke Moore, Kim Do-Heon, Michal Danek, Roman Bednar and Gianni Zuiverloon have already joined the Baggies this summer as boss Mowbray attempts to assemble a squad capable of maintaining their top flight status.
