League Two side Lincoln inflicted a 3-1 defeat on Aston Villa in a friendly at Sincil Bank.
The Premier League side went ahead through John Carew before second-half goals from Jan Kovacs, Lenell John-Lewis and Ben Wright saw the Imps claim a notable pre-season win.
Carew opened the scoring after five minutes when new signing Steve Sidwell robbed a hesitant Frank Sinclair and the Norway striker slotted past Imps goalkeeper Rob Burch.
The hosts looked for a speedy response with Wright and John-Lewis both coming close with headers.
Sidwell, who joined Villa from Chelsea for around £5million, then saw a low shot hit the post before Burch saved well from Gabriel Agbonlahor and Carew.
However, the hosts levelled after 53 minutes when Kovacs powered home a free-kick from Stefan Oakes.
Then the Imps took a two-goal lead inside 60 seconds.
Firstly John-Lewis powered a header into the goal in the 75th minute and then straight from the kick-off a through-ball found Wright who calmly slotted past Stuart Taylor.
Elsewhere, two quickfire goals saw Fulham claim a 2-0 win over Southend at Roots Hall.
The Craven Cottage side took control in the second half after the sides went in goalless at half-time.
David Healy hit the post and Danny Murphy drew a good save from Shrimpers goalkeeper Steve Mildenhall before they took the lead.
A long ball was sent into the Southend box from the left which Erik Nevland and Mildenhall both challenged for, with the Cottagers striker winning the race to bundle the ball into the net.
Despite Mildenhall's protests that he had been impeded, the goal was allowed to stand.
Shortly after, Danny Murphy beat the goalkeeper with a low, angled drive inside the box as the Premier League side took control.
Paul Furlong was just wide with a diving header and Adam Barrett hit the woodwork as the League One side looked for a way back but Fulham held firm.
New signing Geovanni scored one goal and created another as Hull eased to a 4-0 friendly win over Winterton Rangers.
It was the second successive 4-0 win by the Tigers as they prepare for their first season in the Premier League.
All the goals came in the second half with Geovanni, who joined the club from Manchester City, opening the scoring with a deflected effort from the edge of the box.
Phil Brown's side doubled their lead when Geovanni played through South Africa triallist Delron Buckley.
John Welsh, from 20 yards, and Joe Lamplough scored the other goals.

It's LINCOLN CITY FC... not "Lincoln."
Go to the Shire, see the Cathedral and witness 'Gods Country' where wine, women and song are plentiful.
