Although the 25-year-old from Bridgend (pictured, left) prefers longer triathlons, she is keen to put in a good performance ahead of the World Championship Series event in Hyde Park next month.

Saturday's race doubles up as the British Triathlon Sprint Distance Elite Championships with competitors required to swim 750m, cycle 20km and run 5km.

"The Olympic distance is my preferred distance, I love the longer distances and next weekend the younger athletes will all be good at the sprint - but it's all good practice for me, it will help sharpen me up," said Jenkins.

Despite coming from South Wales, Jenkins has yet to race the Parc Bryn Bach course but hopes to improve on her fifth place at the World Championship event in Washington last month.

"I have never raced there before so I am keen to do well and win - it's a challenging and honest course in a great location, I can't wait for it to see what I can do," added Jenkins.

"We have had a great summer so the water should be warmer than normal so no excuses there. I hope people will come out and support us."
