Chelsea striker Claudio Pizarro has secured a return to Germany's Bundesliga after penning a one-year loan deal at Werder Bremen. The 29-year-old Peruvian moved to Stamford Bridge from Bayern Munich last summer on a Bosman free transfer but failed to make an impression in the Premier League.
He scored on his competitive debut for Chelsea against Birmingham last season but found the net only once more in 31 appearances.
Pizarro was linked with a move to Premier League new boys Stoke and Hull earlier this week, with the Blues hoping to sign Robinho from Real Madrid to bolster their forward ranks.
But the South American has now returned to Bremen, where he enjoyed two successful seasons before moving to Munich in 2001.
