Swansea boss Roberto Martinez is not jealous of big-spending Nottingham Forest as the Swans prepare to welcome the Reds to the Liberty Stadium. The Reds have been the biggest spenders in the Championship so far this season, and splashed out a cool £2.65million on Robert Earnshaw, but Martinez is confident his side will be able to compete.
The Swans boss told the South Wales Post: "It's a great thing for a club if you have that sort of money and you're able to spend it. But I am not jealous and I would not swap my squad for theirs.
"Forest should be favourites when they play us because with that sort of money you can take your squad to a different level, but blaming a lack of money is the easy way out, and when you haven't got money you need to find other ways to be competitive.
"It's a great challenge for us to compete with bigger names in the game, and slowly we will grow ourselves. Every step will be solid, and one day I'm sure Swansea City will spend £3million on one player.
"You need to be successful in this league to reach that level, and I believe that when we are a top-six club in this division we will be spending that kind of cash."
