Mixu Paatelainen says a video replay of last weekend's defeat at Kilmarnock proves his Hibernian side are on the verge of turning the corner. After a winless pre-season, featuring seven defeats in eight matches, Hibs began their league campaign with a 1-0 loss at Rugby Park.
However, the Edinburgh side had their chances in the contest, especially in the first half, and had they taken them the result could have been far different.
Paatelainen brought his squad in to review the game on Sunday and the video evidence suggested a much-needed win could soon be forthcoming.
Ahead of welcoming John Hughes' team, the ex-Finnish international striker said: "We are defending okay and now we are not scoring goals - in football you must do them both in order to win matches.
"Last week was disappointing, but last Sunday we watched the tape together and we analysed it. We realised the positives from it as well and the boys saw that.
"We created chances and we just simply need to put them away. If we had put them away in the first half, I think we would have won the game.
"Maybe we need a lucky bounce, hitting the striker's knee and it goes in or even a defender scoring to take the load off the striker's shoulders.
"It's the whole team who does the defending and striking. I know from my experience there is a lean spell of goals and then they come. It's amazing how it happens.
"It should be a cracking game as Falkirk will pass the ball as they always like to do."
Paatelainen, who revealed strike pair Abdessalam Benjelloun and Clayton Donaldson are close to completing moves to Charleroi (loan) and Crewe respectively, would love for new forward Steven Pinau to face the Bairns.
The 20-year-old Frenchman has been secured on a season-long loan from Genoa but international clearance was still being sought last night to allow him to feature.
Of his fifth summer signing, Paatelainen added: "I've been looking at him for a few months, since April time.
"He was brought to my attention and then I went to France and had a look. His attributes will be good for us.
"But he hasn't yet got international clearance. It's not in our hands, it's between the FA's."
