Portsmouth have completed the signing of winger Jerome Thomas on a season-long loan from Championship outfit Charlton Athletic.Harry Redknapp has been a long-term admirer of the 25-year-old after trying to sign Thomas during January's transfer window.
Charlton boss Alan Pardew had admitted that the former Arsenal youngster may be moved on to reduce the club's wage bill.
Thomas has now finalised his switch to Fratton Park and could be involved in Sunday's Premier League opener at Chelsea.
Pompey's chief executive Peter Storrie, who admitted earlier in the week that the club were unable to make any further permanent signings this summer, says Thomas could earn a long-term deal on the South Coast.
"Jerome's a young player that Harry has always liked - a quick, wide player who is a good addition to the squad," Storrie told the club's official website.
"The idea is that he comes here and proves himself. If he plays to the ability we all know he has then he has a great chance of staying here longer, so it's in his hands.
"Harry has been looking to add a quick, wide player, something that's important when you've got someone like Crouchy up front."
