Greg Rusedski won his first ATP Champions Tour title with a 6-3 6-4 win over Stefan Edberg in the final of the Vale Do Lobo Grand Champions CGD in the Algarve.
Rusedski, who lost to Cedric Pioline in the London Masters final last Decemeber, dominated the encounter with his serve in particular causing damage.
"I'm very happy to have won my first ATP Champions Tour title," Rusedski said. "Especially by beating Stefan - someone that I respect so much.
"I've enjoyed the week very much. Vale Do Lobo is a beautiful resort and the organisation of this tournament very was good."
While Edberg did manage to break the Rusedski serve in the second game of the match, with a series of his trademark volleys, the Brit was in control throughout the match.
"I'm actually quite pleased with the way I played this week," Edberg said. "It's always nicer to win a final but to reach the final is a good feeling. I enjoyed the tournament and the resort here a lot and I'm now looking forward to playing in the Paris event in September and in London in Decemeber."

Well done Greg nice to see you playing tennis again would like to see Tim come back but he busy with his property business.
I like to spend sunday mornings in bed playing with myself oh la la !!!!!!!!
please ignore all my posts i go to bed too sleep now.
Sometime i talk and i am sorry when i sober down.
I am drunk please excuse my rudness and i need a nice w**k as i am frustrated.
Rubbish Greg(easier tospell than Rudszeski).. The fact that you had respect for Edberg would have meant you throw the match. This is what they accused Davydenko in the past. However, that Edberg is up at the same level with you says it all that he is a talented player. Remember when he won GS titles you were still a babe in the tennis court..
Well done Greg, shame your'e no longer on the main tour anymore!
