Marouane Chamakh is still set on moving to England but has unfinished business with Bordeaux in the Champions League.

The Morocco striker was linked with Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham but a transfer did not materialise and he stayed at the French champions, who play Juventus in their Champions League opener.

"Not everything has been forgotten from the summer," Chamakh told L'Equipe. "I'm trying to take a step back and focus on the current campaign, telling myself I can do well, and the start of the Champions League is helping a lot.

"The words of my coach (Laurent Blanc) convinced me to stay at Bordeaux - he told me I had a lot to play for here."

Chamakh, who came through the ranks at Les Girondins, revealed that he has not had talks about extending his contract and does not intend to - he can leave on a free this summer.

"I dreaded talks about prolonging my stay," he admitted. "But neither my agent nor the club have said anything.

"I know my bosses well but they let me work in peace and have not put me under any pressure. As it stands, nothing has changed and I am sticking by my decision to move on."

The 25-year-old, French-born but representing Morocco due to his parents, explained that part of his ambition this season is to score goals in the Champions League and show people in England just how good he is.

"I am dreaming about scoring in the Champions League, I know this is essential," he added.

"It's pretty crazy but it seems that six Champions League games make you more famous than an entire season in Ligue 1.

"I now realise I was not well-known in England. I was a little surprised, but I'm not worried and, to be honest, getting to the knock-out stage would be more important than me scoring any goals - that would be a huge achievement."

  2. Chamakh, just hold out till January, Wenger will come get you..at least, you will be free then. You could have been playing with us now, Bordeaux were too greedy. They could have helped you play with Arsenal.
