Bougherra vows to keep his cool

Rangers defender Madjid Bougherra has vowed there will be no repeat of the outburst that earned him a red card in Saturday's goalless draw with Motherwell.

Bougherra received two yellow cards for dissent within a minute as he "lost control" while disputing a penalty award with referee Dougie McDonald. The Algerian had been penalised for bringing down Lukas Jutkiewicz but Allan McGregor came to his rescue with a penalty save from Jim O'Brien to maintain Rangers' unbeaten record in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.

"I have a lot of regrets now because I wanted to play the whole game," he said in the Daily Record. "Rangers had a better chance of winning with 11 players so I hope those two dropped points don't hurt us this season."

He added: "I was so frustrated at that time because it wasn't a penalty so I lost control but Allan came to my rescue.

"I know next time that won't happen and I will keep my emotions in check. I will accept the decision even if I think it is the wrong one.

"I let my team-mates down and I will not do this again."

Bougherra went to the referee's room to apologise to McDonald immediately after the game.

"Afterwards he is a man like me with a family and a wife and I realised there are much more important things to worry about after football," the 26-year-old added.

  6. I watched the game on Saturday. I thought it was a penalty then, still believe it was a penalty. The referee was right to send Boughera off. By the way, Rangers were shocking on Saturday, normally I would defend them but that display was indefensible.
