Hull striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink is in line for his first start for the club against Birmingham at the weekend after impressing manager Phil Brown in training.
The 30-year-old, who joined the Tigers on a free transfer two weeks ago, made his debut as a substitute in the 4-1 defeat to Sunderland.
However, with Hull having scored five goals in as many Barclays Premier League matches and acquired just four points Brown has hinted the Dutchman may get his chance.
"Jan is looking very sharp to be fair to him. He's a goalscorer, he's a technician in front of goal," Brown told the Hull Daily Mail. "We've had a couple of sessions in terms of finishing in the last week and he's raised the bar. When he gets a chance, he hits the target and works the goalkeeper.
"That's what I've always wanted and I don't think I've had enough of that at the club. Jan has got his head down and worked hard since he's been here.
"He knows he needs games and minutes on the field of play and he'll get that in the next couple of weeks."

Hull will be going down, they should never have been promoted in the first place.
They will then be relegated to the 1st Division which is about their level?
He comes out with some rubbish just a couple of days after loosing 4-1 and leaving him on the bench until it was too late now he's admitted Jan is ready possibly he can get back to the defence which on saturday was awful lets not have a repeat of that show ever again
