Cardiff manager Dave Jones admitted "we have to be wiser" after his team's 1-0 defeat at the hands of Newcastle.
Scotland international goalkeeper David Marshall failed to clear Ryan Taylor's cross in the 17th minute and Fabricio Coloccini headed home his first goal for the Magpies. Newcastle skipper Alan Smith was sent off in the 90th minute for two yellow cards - but by then it was too late for the Bluebirds, who were second best throughout the game.
Jones said: "We knew it was going to be a tough game both on and off the pitch but we had to break 10 men down and we have to be wiser."
He added: "Newcastle stopped our flow and Alan Smith was probably unlucky to be sent off but they have Premier League players and know exactly how to put their bodies on the line when necessary."

ant.smith1984 - The League of Wales was formed in the 1990s, decades after several Welsh clubs - Cardiff, Swansea, Wrexham and Newport had established themselves in the English system (as limo has pointed out). These clubs had an option to join the Welsh League but declined because it would have been financial suicide. Rangers and Celtic play in an already established league. It's as simple as that...
Next time, try not to sound like a completely stupid pr*ck.
ant.smith1984 - you didn't moan when you had craig bellamy (born in wales) playing for you or all your other non british players!
Have to agree ant.smith1984, that is one stupid f***ing comment. Cardiff/Swansea have played in the English league since long before you were born (84?) and I've never heard another English fan have a problem with it. Grow up d***head.
limo1wales L, no doubt you're reacting to that tit's comment but save us the 'victim' routine. Don't for one second pretend you'd complain if you were bought out by some rich Arab. And if you were actually in the Premier League with the increased revenue you'd have as many foreign players as anyone else.
I'm a NUFC fan from Newcastle and have no time at all for nationalist biggottry. Keep it football.
at least england are gonna be there where will you be?.lmao
ant.smith1984 My history lesson fell on deaf ears then? is this the same England that managed by a foreigner? and don't get to excited you got as much chance of winning the the world cup as i have sucking the queens T'I'T'S. the most powerful league in the world and you won fack all in 40 odd years.
cardiff are @#$% full stop.and wales should stick to what it does best what ever that is.toooon tooon.ps england for the world cup wales to be sat watching lmao.
ant.smith1984 another English rant that full of the brown stuff! English league with foreign club owners...players...sponsorship..do you want me to go on?..here's a quick history lesson for you.
Cardiff city fc formed 1899 played games WITH our neighbours for years & years in a small league. apart from when the league was suspended due to the outbreak of World War One.Cardiff City has been playing in the English league since and well before a Welsh league ever begin... And they stayed there since ........and in my option earned the right! its strange how its never bothered the English much up until now....now that a welsh side has starting doing well? its all "Cardiff shouldn't even be allowed to play in the championship its a English league". over 100 years and now they shouldn't be allowed.??
PS Cardiff is British/English owned and managed and 90% of the squad is British compare this to man u..arsenal..Chelsea..Liverpool WHO'S MORE ENGLISH?
second best what game were you watching
cardiff shouldnt even be allowed to play in the championship its a english league.rangers and celtic cant play in the english leagues so why should cardiff.toon toon
Lucy goal?? Championship standard defending is what Id call it and that's why you came away with 0 points. We defended like that last season, thats why we are playing you lot this season.................
Second best? If you take out the lucky goal we were the better team by far!
