Kevin Kyle could make an early comeback from his knee injury in Kilmarnock's rearranged Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash with Hearts at Tynecastle on Tuesday night.
Tuesday night's match had to be rescheduled after Kilmarnock's team bus was held up by a lorry fire on the M8 motorway on its way to Edinburgh on Saturday and manager Jim Jefferies told Press Association Sport his big striker might have benefited from the few days extra training.
He said: "We were targeting the Rangers game at home next week for his comeback, he wasn't fit enough to play on Saturday but a few days have made a difference. Kevin has done a bit of training and we will see if there is any reaction."
He added: "You can never tell with these things so we will leave it to the last minute to see how he is feeling."
Jefferies is glad the game was rearranged relatively quickly.
"After the international break you are always raring to get back in to action," the former Hearts boss said. "It was no one's fault that the game was called off on Saturday but we are glad that is was rescheduled so quickly and we are looking forward to it."
Killie have agreed to play under reduced light as the Tynecastle club have still to repair their fire-damaged floodlight tower.
A blaze in the tower between the Wheatfield and Gorgie Stands just before the Europa League qualifier against Dinamo Zagreb forced that match to be played under three floodlights, and the same will now happen for the SPL clash.
A Hearts spokesperson said: "When we took the decision to reschedule for Tuesday on Saturday, Kilmarnock's management team were aware of the floodlight situation and were comfortable with it, as was referee Willie Collum and the Scottish Premier League who have formally granted permission."
