WTA Tour - Vaidisova sets up Jankovic clash

Fresh off of a quarter-finals appearance in the Kremlin Cup in Moscow, the world number 15 needed just 67 minutes move past Srebotnik.

Vaidisova finished the match with 11 aces and, while the Slovenian hit six double-faults and was unable to convert on either of her two break opportunities.

Frenchwoman Tatiana Golovin also had an easy opening-round match beating Russian Maria Kirilenko 6-4 6-3.

Golovin will next face fellow teenager and Serbian world number four Ana Ivanovic in the second round.

Dutchwoman Michaella Krajicek progressed after beating India's Sania Mirza 6-1 6-4, while Alona Bondarenko of Ukraine beat thwe Swiss Timea Bacsinszky 1-6 6-3 6-3.

Russian world number five Maria Sharapova has pulled out of the Swiss indoor hardcourt event with a recurring shoulder injury.
