David Beckham is confident he will seal another loan move to Milan by the start of the New Year - and bolster his hopes of being part of England's 2010 World Cup squad.
Beckham was voted man of the match despite only appearing as a second-half substitute for the 3-0 win over Belarus in a World Cup qualifier at Wembley.
England boss Fabio Capello has made it clear the former Manchester United star has to play a high level of club football to have a realistic chance of being on the plane to South Africa.
Beckham is aware the pressure is on and feels he will soon seal a return to Europe.
"The Milan deal is almost done and hopefully that will be sorted out in the next month and I'll probably be going there at the end of December," said Beckham.
He added: "The move to Milan is close. I've always said I want to go back there and Milan have said they've wanted me from the time I left there.
"They are still saying the same now. It is 95 per cent done and dusted so I don't see why it is not going to happen now.
"The manager (Capello) knows what is going on and he knows what he wants with other players and not just myself."
Beckham is aware that he will have to fight for his place on the plane to South Africa.
He said: "Am I on target for a World Cup spot? There is a long time to go, a lot of games to play, a lot of the season left.
"We will see. I'll carry on working hard, playing as hard as I can, and just to give myself a chance.
"If I'm in the squad, then great, and if not, then we've got a strong squad of players that can go to Africa and make it interesting.
"We all have to prove ourselves every game and every training session that we want to be in the squad and in the team for every game and not just the World Cup."

What a nonsense below about the Managers. What does it matter where they come from? The players on the pitch are representing their countries and win the gongs, the Manager has FOR YEARS been allowed to come from anywhere. Really a stupid comment.
As for Becks, love him or loath him, he has to be in the squad if fit enough. Experienced, wiz with a dead ball, absolutely perfect for the last half hour and/or extra time when other's legs are tiring and the game is more suited to his now slower pace. Those pinpoint passes are an art form never lost....sometimes I think people on here are so one-eyed about him they forget his true skill and his strengths. MOM or not last night is immaterial, his undoubted skill and experience are a must in any WC squad. And believe it, Capello knows that full well.
Beckham will be of little use at the WC, he can only play for 40min max so he will become a specialist player like they have in the NFL, only used when required, not much of a team player then! as for playing top level at Milan, look at the team and they way they play, there is not the speed of the Premiership, also the players are a lot older and slower than any of ours, if we have to take him for a show peice and set pieces who do we leave behind? and who will tell an upcoming young player that they can't go! or shall Capello do and Eriksson, take Walcott and have him sit out every game to satisfy his ego

FIFA should change the rule such that managers can only compete for their OWN nation - if managers are not important to the COMPETITION, why are foreign managers employed?! And club football also needs regulating - it is even more of a farce.
