Moore sympathy for McParland

Rotherham manager Ronnie Moore not surprised to see Notts County part company with Ian McParland earlier in the week.

McParland lost his job at Meadow Lane on Monday despite guiding the cash-rich club into the top five of the League Two table.

Moore was dismissed by Tranmere at the end of last season despite missing out on the play-offs by just one goal and, ahead of Rotherham's clash with County this weekend, he has some sympathy with the Scot.

"Without a doubt I have sympathy but nothing can surprise you in football," he told Press Association Sport. "It must have been horrible because he was like a dead man walking.

"When Sven (Goran Eriksson) came in and with all the money they are talking about there, it was going to be difficult to keep your job.

"It isn't good to work in an environment like that. But it's done and the two new caretaker lads will take over."
