Draw For GB

Wed 16 Jan, 12:09 AM

Great Britain's men maintained their unbeaten record in the tri-nations tournament in South Africa with a 1-1 draw against the hosts.

Surbiton forward Matt Daly put GB ahead in the 29th minute, diving in to score after a flowing move down the right involving clubmates Ben Hawes and Rob Moore and Reading's Jonty Clarke.

However, Tsolekille Lungi equalised in the 56th minute and GB had to survive the last 10 minutes a man down after East Grinstead's Glenn Kirkham was sin-binned.

The team, who now have two draws against the hosts and a victory over Canada, play the North Americans in their final match tomorrow as their preparations for their Olympic qualifying tournament in Chile continue.

"We played better in the second half after a fairly scrappy first half," said manager Pete Nicholson.

"We're getting towards the end of a long tour now and the guys are getting tired, but the work we've put in here will stand us in good stead for the qualifiers in March."
