Championship - No fresh Leicester bid for Sharp
Manager Nigel Pearson insists Leicester are unlikely to make an improved offer for Doncaster striker Billy Sharp.
The two clubs agreed a fee for the player but Rovers boss Dean Saunders indicated over the weekend that Sharp does not want a move to the King Power Stadium.
Pearson said: "We have made the best offer we can make. The door is not shut but you can only go so far.
"As a club we have probably been guilty of going overboard in terms of spending on certain players so far. As far as I am concerned, it is about building a team. It is not collecting players. I don't intend to do that.
"We have done quite a bit of trimming down already in terms of dispensing with players. Now it is time to add to what we have got and complement it, but also we have to get more out of what we have already got here."
Meanwhile, Leicester have taken former Swansea winger David Cotterill on trial.
Cotterill was released by the Premier League newcomers last week just two years after becoming the south Wales club's record signing.
The 24-year-old, who cost £600,000 when former Swans manager Paulo Sousa signed him from Sheffield United in January 2010, had 18 months to run on his contract but has failed to make an appearance this season and left by mutual consent.
Pearson is looking to strengthen his squad this month as the Foxes struggle to find the consistency to mount a sustained play-off challenge in the Championship.
"He has been with us only a couple of days so we will see how that develops," Pearson said. "We haven't had a great opportunity to do a lot of work with him. We are looking in various positions to try to strengthen, of course."

What's wrong with the team? On paper they look good so why all these poor results.
Pity Mr O'Neal did not return to the fold and things might have been different
