Rochdale are in negotiations to bring David Ball back to Spotland after the Peterborough striker's latest loan spell expired.
Ball, 22 has made 15 appearances for Rochdale this term across two loan stints, scoring four goals.
However, all of those strikes came during his first spell and the arrival of Daniel Bogdanovic and Brett Ormerod resulted in him being dropped to the bench for Saturday's 5-1 home loss to Stevenage.
A statement on Rochdale's official website read: "Rochdale AFC can confirm that club officials are continuing to work to negotiate a possible return to Spotland for Ball, and remain hopeful of a positive outcome."
