On-loan Notts County striker Danny Crow netted the only goal at Chester to gift the Magpies a 1-0 win, their first on the road since November The winner came after 69 minutes when Ali Gibb delivered a great cross from the right flank which was superbly directed by the head of Crow past goalkeeper John Danby and into the net.
Crow, on loan from Peterborough, had earlier spurned a great chance when he side-footed wide from just six yards after being set up following good work from Myles Weston.
The nearest Chester came to a goal was after 38 minutes when a cross-cum-shot from Craig Lindfield defeated goalkeeper Kevin Pilkington but bounced onto the top of the crossbar.
Richie Partridge header over, Kevin Roberts went close with a header and substitute Chris Holroyd shot wide after a good run as Chester pushed for the equaliser which never came as they went a 12th game without a win.
