Joel Porter's second-half strike cancelled out Andy Lindegaard's volleyed opener and earned Hartlepool a point in a 1-1 draw at Cheltenham.Cheltenham created a succession of chances but were denied by a brilliant display from keeper Jan Budtz who pulled off a string of fine stops.
He kept out a Steve Brooker header at point-blank range in the 21st minute while an outstretched boot denied Steve Gillespie in the 57th minute.
The best save of the match came 15 minutes from time when he athletically clawed out an Alex Russell header from the top-left hand corner following a Mike D'Agostino cross.
Pools substitute Tom Craddock missed a great opportunity to score on his debut but Robins keeper Shane Higgs blocked and play switched immediately to the other end where Gillespie cut in from the left and grazed the woodwork with a fierce right foot shot.
The first half saw fewer chances but Graeme Lee, also making his debut for Hartlepool, saw his header from a corner on 29 minutes headed off the line by Gillespie.
