Basingstoke Bison's packed schedule began to catch up with them as they lost 3-2 to Newcastle Vipers.
Come Sunday, Basingstoke will have played four matches in five days and they came unstuck as Newcastle scored a last-minute winner through David Longstaff.
Vipers' Jeff Hutchins and Greg Owen traded goals before the home side went in front again through Dean Holland.
The visitors equalised with a short-handed goal from Greg Chambers but with nine seconds left Longstaff snatched victory.
