Chelsea will go into their Champions League clash with Greek champions Olympiacos next week boosted by the timely return of a European great.
Former AC Milan striker Andriy Shevchenko returned to the Chelsea squad against Huddersfield in the FA Cup on Saturday after missing 11 games with a serious back problem.
The Ukrainian had not featured since the 4-4 draw with Aston Villa on Boxing Day - a game in which he scored twice.
Shevchenko was named in Grant's Champions League squad for the knockout stages even though he was still receiving treatment for his injury.
He got the nod over Claudio Pizarro who, along with midfielder Steve Sidwell, was left out of his final selection.
Shevchenko's return, and that of fit-again captain John Terry, will provide Chelsea with the perfect boost ahead of a difficult trip to Greece.
And Shevchenko admits it has been a frustrating time over the past couple of months.
"It is difficult, I felt very fit, and then I suffered an injury," said Shevchenko.
"My game was getting much better and then again, another injury. I understand this is life, but it's important to be involved in the team. I try to help the team, and give my contribution."
On paper at least, Chelsea appear to have one of the easier last 16 draws against Olympiacos but they would be foolish to underestimate their opponents.
The Piraeus side have won four of their last six games since the mid-winter break, with one draw and one loss.
That defeat was to second-from-bottom Kalamarias where they conceded the only goal late on.
However, Olympiacos appealed to the Greek Super League following the game after discovering that Austrian striker Roman Wallner had already this season made appearances with two different clubs, Scottish sides Falkirk and Hamilton, contrary to FIFA regulations.
To increase their hopes of securing another title this season, Olympiacos made three new signings during the January transfer window.
The most recent was 22-year-old Brazilian left-back Leonardo Jesus Geraldo from second-tier Brazilian side Portuguesa SP.
Olympiacos, who won the Super League title for a third straight season in 2007, also signed Fernando Belluschi from Argentinian giants River Plate and Mirnes Sisic from Greek side Levadiakos.
