Premier League - French press link Suarez with PSG

Thu, 16 Feb 12:37:00 2012

Respected French sports daily L'Equipe has said that Paris St-Germain have made Liverpool striker Luis Suarez their number one summer transfer target.

Luis Suarez L'Equipe - 0

The mega-rich French giants have previously failed with bids for Manchester City's Carlos Tevez and AC Milan's Alexandre Pato, but believe they could have better luck with Suarez.

In a front page story, the paper reports that Suarez would be open to a move to the French capital if PSG qualify for the Champions League and Liverpool fail to do so.

PSG are currently one point clear of Montpellier at the top of Ligue 1 but there is an 11-point gap between them and Lille, who currently occupy France's final Champions League spot in third.

However Lille are joined on 39 points by Lyon and Rennes, with Marseille one point further back.

Liverpool currently find themselves seventh in the Premier League, four points behind an Arsenal side who currently hold the final Champions League spot in fourth.

According to the paper, PSG have already contacted Suarez's people about the possibility of a move.

However, Maxime Dupuis of Eurosport's French website said he was sceptical that Suarez would be coming to Paris.

"If you want my opinion, it is probably rubbish, but I may wrong," he said.

"Every time a striker has a problem with his club, the French press seem ready to send him to PSG. These reports can come from nowhere but it is true that PSG are looking for a striker."

If Suarez did sign for PSG, he would be reunited with Uruguay captain Diego Lugano who backed Suarez's decision to snub the pre-match handshake with Patrice Evra last weekend.

"Luis showed balls to do what he did on Saturday," wrote Lugano on his Twitter page.

"These are issues between the players, but many moralist hypocrites used the opportunity to hand out lessons, when Luis was the only innocent one in all this."

Suarez has since apologised for not shaking Evra's hand.

Earlier this year Suarez was banned for eight matches after been found guilty of racially abusing the Manchester United defender.

  1. Stevie Gerrard was not found guilty he was found not guilty he acted in self defence have a look at the CCTV...Now for the DJ.He was not the DJ at all.He was in fact a MAN/UTD fan who was accustomed to taking over the decks when the DJ went for a break..He refused to play Liverpool's anthem despite the club being full of LFC fans, and ex players who still live around Southport..Once again we have somebody connected with MAN/UTD starting trouble then when Liverpool retaliate..They start crying foul..

  2. derrenhoward,

Gerrard didn't pay anybody off, he was convicted of assaulting the DJ so I let you "have that one", even though you were wrong.

We could talk convictions all day, but maybe being in the spotlight attracts that kind of attention.

Money talks? It certainly didn't for Ryan Giggs and his super injunction did it?

...and the guilty walk ...Rio, Rooney, Keane, Cantona, Schmiechal, Giggs, Ferguson himself (remember the hard shoulder incident?), yes looks like you're right.

Thanks for proving Utd fans will believe any rubbish they're fed by the press and the Drunken Tramps propaganda machine and will never let the truth get in the way of their hate filled and malicious attacks on a great club that they'll always be jealous and resentful of.

  18. RE:137.
    Only joking?
You think that sentiment makes you any less of a cretin than the fools who talk about tragedies an such.
You're one of the worst trolls to visit Liverpool stories.
Because you come across as holier than thou, preaching about Apologies like a broken record.
Posting jokes about Suarez making a monkey out of defenders, receiving burning crosses, etc etc, Joking about Bnp.....
In actual fact you're no better than the Manchester United (so-called) fans who were chanting Suarez is a racist.
Its about time you grew up.
Theres a limit to whats acceptable in the guise of Humour, and sadly you've got it woefuly wrong AGAIN.
Apology, anyone!?.... More chance of Getting ferguson to admit he's the source for the myopia sweeping across Manchester.
RE: to the Bolton Numpty......... Rooney a better player than Luis Suarez.....
Now thats the most Hilarious thing Ive seen posted in months.

    Rio

    1. Failed to attend a drug test In September 2003, claiming he had forgotten because he was preoccupied with moving houses and instead went shopping. eight month ban and £50,000 fine
    2. After United's 2–1 loss to Chelsea in April 2008, swore at Chelsea stewards and kicked a female steward.
    3. Banned for four games January 2010 after being found guilty of violent conduct for elbowing a Hull City player.
    4. September 1997, Ferdinand convicted of drink-driving / one-year ban.
    5. 2002, Ferdinand convicted of speeding / one-year ban.
    6. 2003, Ferdinand convicted of speeding / one-year ban.
    7. 2005, criticised by magistrate as he received fourth driving ban and fine of £1,500, after being caught by traffic police "travelling at average of 105.9 mph over nearly two miles".
    8. In interview with BBC Radio 5 he criticised FIFA's approach to racism in football, stating not enough was being done to punish those guilty of homophobic or racist abuse. Ferdinand remarked, "Croatia were fined a few thousand quid. What's that going to do? That is not going to stop people shouting racist or homophobic abuse." (Same for people who keep speeding?)
    9. During a radio interview on The Chris Moyles Show in October 2006, made homophobic comments and attracted listener complaints and criticism from gay rights campaigners when he called Moyles a "f***ot".

Would Sir Drunken Tramp like to comment on what part of this list he considers "disgraceful" and would merit, "Never playing for that club again"?, especially given that speeding and drink driving can kill, shaking a hand normally doesn't!

I think I've lost all respect for Ferdinand now!
