Holland: There's a lot to be done

Sun 16 Mar, 05:30 PM

Crewe manager Steve Holland insists the hard work has only begun after his side boosted their survival hopes with a 3-0 victory at Gillingham.Tom Pope, Nicky Maynard and Dean Morgan netted as the Alex earned themselves some breathing space at the bottom but Holland admitted his side's survival was far from a foregone conclusion.

"There's still a lot to be done. It wouldn't have been all over if we'd have lost and it's not all over even though we've won.

"It's a bad day for Gillingham but we are a young side so I can't be sure we can do this on a weekly basis.

"It remains to be seen whether we've got a decent run-in or not. On paper people have said we've got one of the better run-ins but nothing is certain - we can lose to anybody.

"The last four away games have been really impressive and I'm pleased that the supporters can go home happy. It was a big plus the way we passed the ball - it really made a difference playing on grass and not on the mud at our place."
