Tranmere manager Ronnie Moore conceded his side were fortunate to take all three points following their 3-1 victory over 10-man Hartlepool.Goals from Chris Greenacre, Shane Sherriff and a Michael Nelson own goal proved crucial for Rovers while Ritchie Humphreys was on target for Pools, who had Jamie McCunnie.
Both sides also missed penalties as Greenacre and Tom Craddock missed from the spot at Prenton Park.
"We got out of jail after a very nervy performance," conceded Moore.
"We were all on edge and everyone seemed nervous. Had Hartlepool scored from the penalty they could easily have gone on to win the game.
"It was one of those games for us and it was one of those days when you just play and hope. We got away with it. I can understand the crowd's anxiety. No-one was more nervous than me out there."
