Onuora: Imps went toe-to-toe

Sun 16 Mar, 04:30 PM

Lincoln assistant manager Iffy Onuora remained upbeat despite the Imps succumbing to a 1-0 defeat at home to play-off chasing Stockport.County substitute David Poole earned Gannon's men another victory with a 68th-minute strike from the edge of the box.

Lincoln rarely threatened, but were only denied an equaliser when Stockport goalkeeper John Ruddy made an impressive injury-time save to deny Jamie Forrester.

"We went toe-to-toe with them, we matched them up and let them know they had been in a game," said Onuora.

"I am tempted to say I am happy, but I am disappointed we did not get something out of the game which I think we deserved over the 90 minutes.

"I thought both sides largely cancelled each other out. We had spells, they had spells, but there was one little moment we did not deal with from a corner, apart from that both defences did well."
