Rotherham completed the double over their neighbours Chesterfield for the first time in 80 years, much to the delight of manager Mark Robins.Peter Holmes and Marc Joseph gave the Millers a 2-0 lead at half-time, with Jamie Ward pulling one back for the visitors in the second half.
Robins said: "We have realised how to win football matches. That was back to something like we have been previously.
"There have been some excellent towering performances. We set our stall out early and carried it on to the end.
"We snuffed them out really well. We've got to maintain that standard to the end of the season. We controlled midfield from the start and passed the ball better. It was an all-round better performance.
"We needed the win massively because we have been on a shocking run lately. Chesterfield were only a point behind us at the start, but that has taken it to four with the games running out."
