Trollope bemoans goal-shy Pirates

Sun 16 Mar, 04:16 PM

Bristol Rovers manager Paul Trollope admitted the 1-0 defeat at Cheltenham highlighted his side's lack of potency in front of goal. The Pirates boss was hoping his side could finally shake off the disappointment of their FA Cup exit at West Brom but was left frustrated by a fine display from in-form Robins goalkeeper Shane Higgs.

He said: "After the disappointment of West Brom and the poor display against Northampton in midweek we asked for a performance and the players gave us that, but it's about winning games and we didn't manage that.

"Some of our finishing was good and their keeper made some good saves, but we still lack a bit in front of goal.

"I felt we deserved something, but we have lacked goals especially in the last six or seven games.

"Craig Disley has popped in with a few, but that's masked a problem we've had all season. We are not kidding ourselves and have tried to rectify this by bringing players in, but it's not as easy as it sounds."
