Werder Bremen missed the chance to gain ground on Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich after losing 1-0 at home to Wolfsburg.A day after Bayern lost at lowly Energie Cottbus, Bremen allowed Wolfsburg striker Grafite to score the game's only goal in the 50th minute.
The loss - Bremen's third in the last four games - left Thomas Schaaf's side on 43 points and saw them drop to fourth, below Bayer Leverkusen in the race to qualify for next season's Champions League.
Bayer climbed into a Champions League berth following an emphatic 4-1 home victory over Nurnberg.
Karim Haggui's early goal was cancelled out by Nurnberg's Zvjezdan Misimovic in the 12th minute.
But Nurnberg defender Leandro Glauber put through his own net 11 minutes after the interval before Theofanis Gekas and Stefan Kiessling rounded off the scoring.
