Mixu Paatelainen has promised Ross Campbell his big chance will come in the first team after likening the Hibernian striker to Steven Fletcher.Campbell, 20, played more senior games last season than he has so far in the current campaign, during which he has made just two substitute appearances in the first team.
But Paatelainen believes in the youngster's ability, even though Campbell has not developed as quickly as Fletcher, who turned 21 last month and has already been capped by Scotland.
Campbell has scored twice on each of his last two appearances for the Hibs reserves, against Hearts and Kilmarnock.
He will now be pushing for a place on the bench in Sunday's SPL match away to Dundee United.
Former striker Paatelainen told the club's official website: "Ross Campbell is in good goalscoring form at the moment, he has a great future in the game.
"He is a very determined guy who works very hard, and in some ways he is very similar to Steven Fletcher.
"They are both good finishers and great technicians, give either of them a chance and they will bury the ball.
"It is good to have strikers like that around who are still young and learning the game.
"It's good to see Ross scoring goals regularly, he will be used in the first team before long."
Meanwhile Hibs have confirmed that midfielder Guillaume Beuzelin will be available for the trip to Tannadice, having been absent with a knee injury sustained early in the home defeat to Celtic on March 1.
