Foster: Quakers must dig deep

Wed 16 Apr, 06:45 PM

Darlington captain Steve Foster has bemoaned the poor run of form that has seen his side slip out of contention for automatic promotion. The Quakers have dropped down to sixth in League Two following a run of just one win in their last nine games and face Chesterfield at the weekend knowing that a point will be good enough to secure a play-off place.

"It's disappointing to think that we're now looking for points to make sure of a play-off place. We've been up there all season, we've hit a bit of a bad patch and we've just got to dig deep," Foster told the Northern Echo.

"All we can do is concentrate on our own game and if we can get a win down there then it will do us the world of good."

Foster is also hoping that strike duo Julian Joachim and Pawel Abbott return from injury in time for the end-of-season push.

He added: "They're not far away and hopefully they will be back for the last two games, it will be great to have the likes of Pav and Julian back just in time for the play-offs."
