Preston goalkeeper Grzegorz Szamotulski has departed Deepdale after having his contract at the Championship club ended by mutual consent. The Polish stopper signed for North End as cover for first choice keeper Andy Lonergan in February but suffered an ankle injury in his first reserve team game that he has been unable to shake off.
Boss Alan Irvine told the club's website: "It was decided that we wouldn't be offering Grzegorz a contract at the end of the season and rather than keeping him here we've agreed to cancel the contract.
"It was unfortunate that he picked up an injury early on. It was a bit more complicated than we first thought and therefore it has made it impossible to for us to assess him."
